It is a VoIP telephony device. However, it has a unique feature: not only does it provide a low-cost wired phone service at home, but the same number can also ring on a mobile phone with the MagicJack app installed. And since it's VoIP, the mobile phone can be wired using a USB-C to Ethernet adapter, allowing it to receive calls and texts while in airplane mode.
Additionally, it is possible to use a Cell2Jack to connect a mobile phone over the airwaves that receives its calls through the app.
It should be noted that some phones are incompatible with Ethernet connections, and also that devices like recent iPhones emit a lot of radiation even in airplane mode or when completely turned off. In this case, the solution is to switch to a compatible phone with a true airplane mode that cuts off all signals.
